As a result of the safety restrictions being removed on her Miraculous (due to her using the Miraculous for evil), she suffered side effects as a result from using her Miraculous (shown as a series of black lines across her neck and face), alongside her partner Claw Noir. According to Shadybug, the effects were gradual, though Marinette attempting to summon Gimmi ended up accelerating the process, resulting in the affliction spreading to her face. It's unknown how the affliction affected Shadybug physically or what happened if it was complete, though according to her the use of their Miraculous Powers "will slowly destroy them". The affliction seemed to affect the user physically however, as both her and Claw Noir were able to feel the affliction when it was removed.
She replies that her sewing machine is broken while noticing dark veins in her face for her wish attempt as Sabine tells Marinette anything broken can be repaired. Wishing Sabine a good night, Marinette transforms into Shadybug and releases Adrien from the handcuffs. Throwing him back the Cat Miraculous, Adrien who transforms into Claw Noir tries to comfort Shadybug, who is crying about the fact that they are slowly being destroyed by the Miraculouses because of misusing it. Betterfly escapes the area with Marinette still in his arms, Shadybug and Claw Noir arrive at the ground too late. They call out for Betterfly to reveal himself as he and Marinette are hiding behind a wall quite a distance away.

Though Plagg relates through his love for cheese at first, after realizing Adrien's concern was genuine, he decides to comfort him, assuring him that destruction is a path to build anew. However, their plan was ruined due to Alya's secretly spying and recording on the three and warning the heroes. Realizing this, Claw Noir tearfully lets go of Adrien and his good counterpart tells him that even though he was pained by his mother’s death as well, he was able to move on with the help of his friends and loved ones. When Adrien suggests befriending his counterpart’s Nino, Claw Noir feels that he doesn’t deserve to have Nino as a friend, but Adrien tells him that he needs to apologize to him.

After failing due to Ladybug and Cat Noir's intervention, he pretended to catch a falling Shadybug, only to move at the last minute, letting her to hit the ground and then tried to steal her Miraculous, only to be stopped by her. This caused an argument which caught Monarch's attention, who tried to akumatize them, only for the Megakuma (which they believed to be a Kamiko) to be destroyed by Claw Noir's Cataclysm.
Betterfly thanks her for her effort before removing her power, returning the original Alya back. Alya quickly reassures her that they are and that the loud noise was caused by a video game with the volume too high. Alya then searches the room and finds her phone, which is completely cracked.
On the Eiffel Tower, Monarch shows Shadybug and Claw Noir, Ladyfly, Cat Noir and Ubiquity running towards them. Ladyfly destroys the Shadybug illusion, pretending to be surprised as Monarch teleports Shadybug to Ladyfly. As Cat Noir swings in and destroys the illusion of the giant Claw Noir and pretends to not know about it, Monarch uses the power of Voyage and teleport the real Claw Noir over to Cat Noir.

After reforming, Claw Noir (now Paw Noir) joined Betterfly's team to defeat the Supreme and free their universe. It's known that the Supreme took advantage of Adrien's sadness over losing his mother to recruit him to his side by entrusting him the Cat Miraculous to get back the Butterfly Miraculous which was stolen by Betterfly (unknown to Adrien, that he was actually his father). Unlike Gabriel in his universe, Monarch is the villainous counterpart of Betterfly in the Quantic Universe, Like Claw Noir, he also wanted to bring Emilie back by using the Ladybug and Cat Miraculouses to summon Gimmi. After Claw Noir reformed and decided to become a superhero, he agreed with Betterfly when he reassured Ladybug she will suceed in defeating Monarch. However, Adrien was soon surprised to see Shadybug detransfoming into Marinette, and blushed and smiled at her, revealing to have a crush on her, as in their world, he often had his car stopping in front of her bakery to see her.

Betterfly compliments Ladybug and Cat Noir's world, saying how they're partner and help each other as it is normal and how in his, helping other people is considered a crime. Betterfly goes on that ordinary civilians are unaware of the existence of the Miraculouses as they are a secret. He explains how The Supreme uses them to perpetuate his evil rule on the alternate universe where Butterfly is from. Admitting he did indeed steal two Miraculouses and used them for the wrong reasons, he hurt someone he loved dearly and decided he needed to use his powers for good. When talking to Sabine, she said the sewing machine was "broken" while looking at herself in the mirror, implying that was how she saw herself.

Meanwhile, in Marinette's room, Shadybug continues to look around for any clues or anything particularly interesting, finding Marinette's secret diary. Just as he is trapped, Betterfly tries to plead to the villain duo to join the Resistance but they refused. About to grab the Butterfly Miraculous from him, Ladybug swings her yoyo at Shadybug's arm as she looks confused.

She wears a jumpsuit similar to her counterpart where most of the black fades except on her sides, upper arms and legs, extended turtle neck while keeping her pendant and her hair changes to her normal civilian style her bang color changed from pink to red and her eyes change back to blue. Unlike her counterpart, she uses a more Gothic style, having a white shirt under a dark gray jacket, dark pink trousers that have rips above the knees and legs and black high-top boots with grey soles. She also wears dark fingerless lace gloves that go up until the half of her forearms and a black ascot with grey ornaments. After her counterpart was able to inspire her to get the life she wanted to have, Shadybug gave up on her evil purpose, using her Lucky Charm to repair everything and, in this way, get a new costume. Now allying herself with Betterfly and having joined his Resistance, she adopted the name Ladybug, becoming a superhero. In "Miraculous Paris", after Betterfly crossed the multiverse to get help from Ladybug and Cat Noir (the heroic versions of the villains), she followed him along with Claw Noir to steal the Butterfly Miraculous.
Celesticat continues carrying Betterfly and Ladybug and flies, dropping them off in the sewers. Betterfly dekamikotizes Celesticat as his kamiko is revoked and he turns back into Cat Noir. At the bakery, Alya deletes the video from Sabine's phone and Marinette and Alya head downstairs for some breakfast prepared by Sabine as they both yawn from last night's battle as the special ends. Meanwhile, Betterfly tries to tell the villains that it is possible for a better world. Shadybug and Claw Noir ignore his words as he is sent flying due to being hit by one of Shadybug's Lucky Charms.
When detransforming back into Marinette, she noticed alternate Adrien smiling and blushing at her and asked him if he knew her, to which he only awkwardly shrugged. But Marinette dismissed it to try to make a wish to a better life, only to fail, to Adrien's concern. And when looking at him, she softened her tone to main Sabine, before retransforming, releasing him and throwing his Miraculous back at him, and she rebuffed his attempt to comfort her after she realized no wish could save them from their affliction. After her counterpart convinced her to use her powers for good and become a hero, Shadybug used the Miraculous Shadybug to restore the damage from their battle, resulting in the removal of the affliction infecting her and Claw Noir. Since she now uses her powers for good, it's unknown if she still possesses the ability to summon multiple Lucky Charms. Back at the pool, Claw Noir pins Cat Noir and takes off his Miraculous, revealing Adrien is Cat Noir.
Overall, the effects are similar to the effects caused by wearing a broken Miraculous. In Marinette's bedroom, Alya notices the yoyo entering it and quickly jumps off Marinette's computer and hurries off to hide. She sees Shadybug and Claw Noir entering it and searching through Marinette's belongings for a clue. In the sewers, Cat Noir and Ladybug detransform to feed their kwamis and to recharge.
